Gamer Home Upgrades

The video game industry went from an obscure hobby for kids to an entertainment industry that makes more money than movies and music combined. For over 40 years, video games have captured the imagination of gamers around the world. Just as sports fans have incorporated their favorite sports into their homes, gamers have done so in their homes. If you want to join in that trend, what are some essentials to building a space around your hobby?

Surround Sound

One the first things you will want to incorporate into your gaming space is surround sound. Sounds have upgraded from minor bleeps and bloops to full on soundtracks and sound effects that rival or even surpass the best movies. Including surround sound will help you give you the edge you need in beating your most bitter rivals.

Gaming Chair

If you are going to be sitting for hours at a time, playing with friends or competitors online, you want to be comfortable. There are a lot of choices out there, and they have a lot of features that can upgrade your game. Features range from vibration, to surround sound, to high backs for comfort and weight-activated multipurpose castors for limited movement while gaming.

Wall Decals

Pick up some wall decals of your favorite games to show your love for your favorite games. They will set the mood of the area and help you feel like you are a part of the game. Plus they are safe for walls and can be easily removed.

Projector

When you don’t have as much space, a projector is a great way make any wall a screen. A projector eliminates a lot of the wires required for gaming. While they might need a little more technical know how to set up, and the cost can be a little higher, the prices are in line with comparably sized televisions. Turn a room into a theatre with much less equipment.

Portal Mirrors

If you are a fan of Portal, it is pretty easy to create some mirrors to show your love of the game. Just get some oval shaped mirrors and some blue and orange lights behind them, and you have some Portals in your gaming space.

Bed Sheets

The video game industry makes a lot of money on merchandise other than games. Everything from shirts to shoes, to action figures, there is something for every fan. Display your love of the game by using a bedspread of your favorite game or console.

8-Bit Flooring

Have extra space in the basement that doesn’t have carpet or tile already? How about adding some old-school flavor to the floor by putting in some 8-Bit flooring. Whether it is Megaman, Pac-Man, Mario or some other gaming favorite, add some old school 8-bit love.

Whether you are a casual gamer or hardcore enthusiast, there are decorations and upgrades for any video game lover.
